Being 16+

Nana December 17, 2016

At this point of time in your life, you have probably gone through many rough patches. Some things or people may have given you butterflies in your tummy and made the world a brighter place.

Others may have ripped your heart out of your chest and torn it into pieces, making you wonder if there is any good left in the world - which really sucks because it makes you feel so insignificant and unimportant, and you build your walls up even more.

You are scared of giving your trust and time to anyone now; because what’s the point if they’re going to end up leaving you anyway?

Now, do you remember the period in your life before you realised how awful the world and some people in it truly is? That innocent, blissful time when you are able to give someone all of your heart because you’ve never felt the unbearable pain of being heartbroken before.. when you can fully trust someone without giving it a second thought…

I wonder if I’ll ever be able to feel that way again.

P.S. Response to my younger self from my current 21-year-old self: Yes, you will be able to feel that way again. Give yourself some time, and someone will come into your life and help you learn to love wholeheartedly and endlessly again. (Shoutout to my boyfriend, Akash. I love you.)
