A trip to Lake District

Nana June 5, 2022

A Photo Diary

Lake District, UK
2-4 June, 2022

It’s the Platinum Jubilee weekend which means there is a four-day bank holiday here in the UK. We took this opportunity to visit Lake District. By ‘we’, I mean myself, boyfriend, brother, brother’s friend (Kallen) and a family friend (j’Mook).

Accommodation

We stayed at a resort called Hapimag Burnside Park Apartments. We had a lovely cottage to ourselves, like a home away from home.

Boating in the lake

We hired a boat from Bowness Bay Marina to go boating in the Windermere lake. Unfortunately it was raining so we didn’t get the nicest views of the lake. Nonetheless, it was pretty fun exploring the lake and jamming along to music I played from my phone (they had a speaker but we couldn’t connect to its bluetooth :c).

Quad biking

Now this was really fun. I really enjoyed riding on the quad bikes, also known as ATV. We had to go through a variety of terrain. There were bits that were wet and muddy, and parts that were very steep. The staff made sure we were comfortable with controlling the quad bikes before we headed into the woodlands. They guided us all along the way. They also provided waterproof clothings, helmets, etc. I highly recommend doing this. We got our ATVs from Lake District Off-Road in Keswick.

Surprise View

Once we were done with quad biking, we asked the staff where is a nice place to visit in Keswick and he recommended this place called “Surprise View”. It’s got a gorgeous view of the Derwentwater lake.

Penrith Castle

We dropped off my brother and his friend at Penrith train station because they were heading to Edinburgh, Scotland. The train station was right next to Penrith Castle, and we took some fun photos.

Hiking

The next day, the rest of us went hiking. Not gonna lie, it was quite hard. The path was very steep. We didn’t make it to the summit of Wansfell Pike as we planned but that’s okay. J’Mook was tired and I was afraid my knees were going to hurt if we went further. On the way to the mountain, we went past a waterfall which was really nice.

And that’s it, folks! This trip has been great. We just got unlucky with the weather. On the last day, the sun came out, and the lake looked so much prettier. It would’ve been much nicer if we went boating when there’s sunshine but ah well. Overall, I had a good time. :)

With love,

Nana
