York, England

My aunt and cousin wanted to visit York so once again, Akash and I turned into tour guides for them (our first time being guides was in London a week before this trip). Since York is pretty far from Guildford, we had to start our day at 6 am. It took approximately 4 hours and a half to get there by train. Come, let's explore York together...

The Harry Potter Shop at Platform 9 3/4
Before we headed to York, we stopped by at The Harry Potter Shop at Platform 9 3/4 inside London King's Cross station. My cousin is a huge fan of Harry Potter, and she was so excited to take photos with the famous trolley. After we looked around the shop, we hopped on the train to York.
National Railway Museum
The first place we visited was the National Railway Museum. There were so many old trains here. My favourite has got to be the Shinkansen (the Japanese bullet train).
Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms
Now, it's time for lunch. If you come to York, you have to visit Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms. The queue to the restaurant was pretty long, and we had to wait for about 20 minutes. Their food consists of a fine mix of continental classics and British favourites. But the most famous item on their menu is the legendary traditional afternoon tea - which was really lovely.
York Minster
Excuse our messy hair, haha. The wind was crazy! This is York Minster (the cathedral). It looks so grand and epic, doesn't it? There was an entrance fee to get in, and my aunt decided it wasn't worth it so we didn't see the inside.
York City Walls
Lining the whole city of York is the city walls. Akash said he felt like a soldier as we walked on the wall, haha. You could just imagine soldiers/knights marching along these walls back in the days. We also got a nice view of the cathedral from here too.
Jorvik Viking Centre
Next we headed to the Jorvik Viking Centre. Here, we went on a ride that took us through a reconstructed Viking-Age of Jorvik. The way they lived back then and the history was pretty interesting.
York's Chocolate Story
After that, we learned the art of the chocolatier at York's Chocolate Story. Here, we learned about the history of chocolate, how cocoa is turned into a bar of chocolate and made our own chocolate lollipop (sort of, we just decorated them with sprinkles haha). The lady that took us on tour was so lovely and never broke out of her chirpy, adorable character. Would recommend you to visit this place if you're in York.
Yak & Yeti Gurkha Restaurant
Finally, we ended our trip in York at a Nepalese restaurant called The Yak & Yeti Gurkha Restaurant. It was the first time my cousin and aunt tried Nepalese food, and I think they quite liked it. The food was nice, and I loved how they served them in metal plates - very authentic. The staff was wonderful to us as well.
