I’m happy to say I’ve found contentment in life, a big change from my 2020 self. Small daily habits, like consistent workouts and cooking healthier meals, have boosted my energy and mood. Now in my third year of medical school, I’m enjoying the hands-on experience in clinical placements. To my past self, I’m sorry you felt so miserable; I’m doing much better now and hope to keep it that way.

In this second part of my confessions as a Thai girl studying in England, I’ve noticed some quirky British customs. For instance, the greeting “Are you alright?” always makes me second-guess myself. I love how students engage in discussions in class, unlike the silence I experienced back in Thailand. The unpredictable weather is a favorite topic of conversation, and I find the way time is expressed—like “quarter to ten” instead of “nine forty-five”—both amusing and puzzling.
